I loved working with Lizzie and James throughout their planning process. They are super friendly, down to earth, and genuinely kind people. I’m a little jealous of the adventurous life they are currently living – trying new places, seeing what they like and what suits them is something I wish I had done, so I’m living vicariously through them. And I have to say, their license plate that reads “Nomads” is the absolute cutest.
The spectacular Whiteface Hollow was theirs for the entire weekend. Lizzie and her bridal party used the beautiful farmhouse as the team from Bridal Beauty by Renu got them in full glam squad mode. After donning her show-stopping gown from Alexandra’s Bridal, grabbing her bouquet from Simple Bouquets, Lizzie headed over to the vineyard where James was waiting for her to have their first look. As Jess from Jess Sinatra Photography captured this special moment and then took advantage of the pretty property for some additional photos of the bride and groom with their bridal party, I was busy in the barn putting the finishing touches on the space. The farm tables were lined with greenery and white & pink roses with twinkle lights tucked in for some added sparkle. Personalized favors (hot sauce!) sat at each place setting and I loved seeing that the one Lizzie chose was slightly more spicy than James’. Every small detail added to the warm, welcoming ambience.
Guests arrived mid-afternoon and found majestic mountain views awaiting them. The heartfelt ceremony officiated by Lizzie’s brother Nick was sincere and sweet, drawing laughter and tears from the guests. As James’s parents reminded them to stay best friends, I saw a few guests wiping tears from their eyes. With Nick’s final words he ushered Lizzie and James into their new adventure, and the group was ready to celebrate! Taking advantage of the weather, everyone enjoyed the outside space (complete with lawn games!), the signature cocktails served up from DeeLuxe Bartending, while the team from Mezzanine Catering kept the delicious apps at the ready. As a cheer went up from the crowd, I knew that formal photos were complete and Lizzie and James had joined the party! After mingling with their guests for a while, Jess and I took the happy couple into the barn for their first look of the completed space.
As cocktail hour wound down, everyone entered the barn and took their seats as they awaited the couples introduction to “Walking on Sunshine." Following the sweetest first dance, maid of honor, Laura, and best man, Mike, toasted the newlyweds. The toasts were filled with laughter and memories, and had their guests hanging on every word. I learned (and laughed) hearing that Lizzie and James started as random Craigslist roommates, and were warned about dating each other long before it ever happened. There was also advice that we can all take to heart as James was told the three most important words he can ever say to his wife is “whatever you want”!
Following an amazing dinner from Mezzanine Catering, Lizzie and James cut their lovely cake and shared emotional dances with their parents. When Lizzie invited her Mom to join in during the father/daughter dance, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Afterwards, it was time to change the tune and the party was in the hands of DJ Adam from Main Event Entertainment, who was every bit as lively as the family who couldn’t wait to join Lizzie and James on the dance floor. The incredible love of their expansive family and friends was at the heart of Lizzie & James wedding. It was a truly memorable celebration, and I was lucky to have been a part of it!
Lizzie & James – no one knows where your adventures will take you, but I know they will be filled with excitement, laughter, and so much love. Wishing you endless happiness, good fortune, and good health. xo
